About Me

Hello! My name’s Katherine, but for those of you who would like to work with me, you can call me Kate if you prefer. I’ve been counselling for about 9 years and I love what I do. In particular I have a lot of experience in working with all things relational: relationships with others, connection, breakups, attachment and most importantly- the relationship we have with ourselves. Having been through an anxious/avoidant relationship myself, I’m very familiar with the unique nature of how these dynamics play out and the way in which they can cause long-lasting impact. I work with people of all attachment styles, but most of the work I do is with avoidant attachers.

Throughout my working life I’ve had the privilege of working with a broad range of people, often those who are feeling a bit lost, and possibly unsure how they’ve arrived at this place and where to go from here. I also work with a lot of clients who might feel like they’re the villain in their story. They might be carrying guilt or shame or feel they’ve caused hurt in some way. It takes a lot to seek help, admit wrongdoing and then take steps to change so there’s no judgement here, and there’s nothing we can’t talk about.

As a therapist, my clients tell me I’m real, honest and down to earth.  I’m invested in helping you get to where you want to be. This might involve noticing patterns, reactions and communication styles. I think this is useful to bring into the (virtual) room, because therapy often acts as a small example of what may be going on outside of therapy as well, or what might be going on unconsciously. Ultimately, I’m here to follow your lead- so do tell me what you’d like to achieve from therapy and we can work collaboratively to help you achieve that goal; albeit healing, direction, learning new ways of being or if you’re unsure of what you’d like to change, we can start there.

Feel free to ask me any questions, or drop me an email if you’d like us to work together.
