cPTSD COUNSELLING

We Ken Reid Counselling and we are highly experienced in helping people overcome the overwhelming emotions that complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (cPTSD) can evoke.

As you may already be aware, cPTSD is a severe form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that can result from repeated or prolonged exposure to traumatic events, such as neglect, invalidation, gaslighting, and narcissistic abuse (just to name a few).

If you are struggling with this condition, you may experience symptoms such as anxiety, depression, nightmares, flashbacks, and emotional numbness, among others.

Our cPTSD counselling services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. We take a client-centered approach, meaning we'll work closely alongside you to identify your specific challenges, goals, and concerns. In doing this, we can create a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your thoughts and emotions, learn coping strategies, and develop resilience together.

How does cPTSD counselling work?

We utilise a range of evidence-based therapies - including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) - to help our clients overcome their cPTSD. Only once we get to know you will we be able to personalise our approach to your trauma-informed care; helping you learn mindfulness-based techniques that will help you build awareness and self-compassion.

At Ken Reid Counselling, our cPTSD counselling is confidential, professional, and engaging. We understand that seeking help for cPTSD can be challenging, and we strive to create a supportive and non-judgmental space for you to feel comfortable in.

Please note: we don't specialise in healing severe trauma from incidents of sexual assault or other forms of physical assault, nor do we specialise in healing people with associated comorbidities of addiction, gambling, chronic depression, eating disorders, personality disorders or severe suicidal ideation. However, if you are experiencing cPTSD as a result of one or more of these condition, we can refer you to a specialist with specific expertise in this area.
